Is there any specific procedure to follow when insulating bearings? If so, what is it?
2015-11-16Following are some guidelines to follow when insulating bearings:
Apply sufficient alumina oxide coating to allow for finished grinding to original bearing journal
dimensions with a 63 RMS, or better, surface finish. A phenolic sealer must be applied after the
initial machining, but before the finish grind.
Suggested insulation materials:
- * Alumina oxide (Metaceram® 25010 or equivalent) - P/N 936521.
- * Bonding material (Metaceram® 21021 or equivalent) - P/N 936520
- * Sealer (Metcoseal® AP from “Metco”) - P/N 936557.
